Joey B Banks is a musician and creative from Madison, known for blending global rhythms with contemporary groove. With deep roots in the Midwest music scene, Banks has built a reputation as a dynamic performer who brings energy, rhythm, and cultural fusion to every stage.
Drawing inspiration from Latin, funk, reggae, and pop influences, Joey B Banks has been involved in projects that celebrate musical diversity and live performance. Based in Wisconsin, he has played throughout the region and continues to collaborate with artists who push genre boundaries and bring people together through music.
Beyond performing, Banks is passionate about keeping live music vibrant in his community and supporting creative expression across genres.

Joey Bs mentor, friend and band mate was the "funky drummer", Clyde Stubblefield. Joey B. frequently sat in with Clyde and the band for many years and was Clyde’s substitute drummer at his weekly Funky Monday shows. 3 years prior to Clyde Stubblefield's death on February 18, 2017, Joey B. became the musical director and creator of the Clyde Stubblefield All Stars, a band Joey B. Put together for Clyde when he was still alive, to perform his original music and the music he performed for James Brown. The band was an all star tribute to the late great funky drummer dedicated to preserving the legacy of Clyde Stubblefield.
Joey B has also dedicated himself to preserving the legacy of Clyde Stubblefield by creating a music scholarship in Clyde’s name.
The scholarship helps support youth that are sgoing on to study music in a college or university.
Joey B is an advocate for youth in performing arts. He currently teaches private lessons for 20 drum students, Founder and Director Forward Performing Arts-Black Star Drum Line. He is a member of the planning committee for Overture Center Arts Education Roundtable, a Professional Teaching Artist for the Madison School and has done residencies, workshops and clinics in local elementary, middle school and high schools in the Madison and surrounding areas.
These days you can see Joey B. performing with his bands The Funkee JBeez, JB3s, the Ultimate Steely Dan Tribute-Steely Dane, Rare Element, the legendary Madison Rock band Honor Among Thieves, Play Machine! and Automatic Lover.
